The crisis happening right now in Afghanistan is a clear sign of Biden’s inability to lead.
Democrats have slammed. Even liberal outlets like CNN are hammering the man.
Republicans have been very vocal, calling on the failed president to resign. Others, including Sen. Lindsey Graham, want Biden impeached over this disaster.
But constitutional professor Alan Dershowitz, who defended Trump in 2019, is urging Republicans to slow down.
From The Hill:
Whatever one may think of what Biden did or failed to do, it does not constitute an impeachable offense under the text of the Constitution. As I argued to the Senate a year and a half ago, vague terms like “abuse of power” or “dereliction of duty” do not meet the constitutional criteria of “treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”
Alan Dershowitz, who was a chief defender of Trump during the 2019 impeachment, claims that Biden’s historic failure in Afghanistan is not grounds for impeachment.
The professor argues that his pathetic lack of leadership, ignorance, and arrogant dismissal of advice does not constitute “treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”
He compared the current situation to how Democrats abused their majority in the House to impeach Trump.
Dershowitz believes that both times Democrats impeached Trump, it was over partisan fighting, not true crimes or misdemeanors.
The lawyer believes the Constitution sets a high bar for impeachment for a reason, so that rival parties in power cannot remove a president so easily.
But let’s keep in mind Democrats weaponized impeachment during Trump’s administration. They impeached him over a phone call, then over accusations connected with January 6th.
While Dershowitz can argue that Biden has not committed impeachable offenses, time might tell a different story.
Biden rejected the calls of leaders and military officials and withdrew our troops hastily. He did not have a plan to protect or evacuate Americans and allies. On top of that, he left behind billions of dollars worth of military equipment.
And he has clearly negotiated with and worked with the Taliban, a group still labeled as “terrorists.”
Can that be considered “treason, “high crimes,” or “misdemeanors”? Some might think so.

(Especially since some believe Biden did this to aid China’s alliance with the Taliban.)
Right now, it is unlikely he will be impeached, given the Democrats’ major. But if Republicans gain control of Congress in 2022, things might change very quickly.
