President Joe Biden and other Democrat leaders have settled on one goal early in 2022: getting rid of the Senate filibuster.
Democrats have been railing against the filibuster for months now, and they’re doubling down on their efforts to ditch the historic rule. It has definitely put a damper on the left-wing agenda.
But one Republican says a top Biden staffer should lose his job for his “nuke the filibuster” idea.
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) is one of many GOP members who defend the filibuster. They say it’s not only imperative for fairness on Capitol Hill, but it keeps the most radical leftist plans at bay.
And so far, that roadblock has indeed put a stop to several high-profile Democrat causes in Washington.
That’s why left-wing politicos are so intent on getting rid of the filibuster, even if it seems highly unlikely. For instance, Biden Chief of Staff Ron Klain is now pushing for a vote on “nuking the filibuster.”
For that reason, Rep. Sasse says the President should give Klain his walking papers.
As he said in a statement to Fox News:
The Senate is taking a guaranteed-to-fail vote on blowing up the filibuster so that Chuck Schumer can ward off a primary challenge from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and so that Ron Klain can throw some chum at the Democratic Party’s progressive base.
Ron Klain thinks his own activists are dumb enough to fall for it. President Biden ought to fire his chief of staff immediately.
Klain is the latest to jump aboard the anti-filibuster bandwagon.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) vowed to vote on several key liberal agenda items, including the controversial Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement act.
He also said they’re going to vote on whether or not the 60-vote filibuster will remain in the Senate.
However, despite his promise, it seems apparent that the latter attempt is doomed to fail. Several Democrats, including Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, are against the idea to start with.
And of course, it’s highly unlikely that any Republican will vote to abolish the filibuster, so Schumer and Klain’s push might be futile.
As far as Sasse is concerned, that’s why President Biden should fire Klain. It isn’t the first time a Republican has demanded that Biden get rid of one of his staffers, and it won’t be the last.

The Biden administration has suffered through disturbingly low approval numbers, and many voters say the President isn’t focused on the country’s biggest problems.
For example, while Democrats desperately attempt to get rid of the filibuster so they can more easily pass their agenda, the nation still struggles with historic inflation and other economic concerns.
If Biden’s team can’t turn things around in 2022, we could be looking at a very big “red wave” during the midterm elections later in the year.
