California City Goes After Chick-fil-A – The Booming Christian Fast-Food Chain Is Being Labeled A “Public Nuisance”

It’s no secret that Americans love fast-food chain Chick-fil-A. What you might not know is that the company has been under a boycott by certain liberal groups for about 15 years. During the same time, the company has only surged in popularity—the exact opposite of what these groups wanted.

Despite their dislike of the Christian-owned company, it continues to be the third-biggest chain in America.

But one California town decided enough was enough. They were getting sick and tired that the successful restaurant was so popular, bringing in customers and cash for the town. So popular, that the line for the drive-thru went around the corner.

So, they tried to shut it down with a stunning complaint. From The Blaze:

In a report filed earlier this month, various city agencies ordered a public hearing on the matter and recommended that the city council take a specific course of action: “Declare that a public nuisance exists at 3707 State Street and direct abatement of the nuisance by cessation of use of the drive-thru facility.”

Santa Barbara officials claim the regular lunch-hour queue of cars outside the restaurant frequently blocks driveways for other businesses, delays the city’s bus system, and increases the risk of collisions for automobiles or cyclists attempting to bypass the line.

California town Santa Barbara, whose only claim to fame was being featured in cable channel show Psych, is trying to shut down its Chick-fil-A for being a “public nuisance.” Why is it being a public nuisance? Are the employees vandalizing other stores? No. Is the company trying to directly disrupt the lives or livelihoods of other residents? Again, no.

This town is just upset that the restaurant is so popular, that its line for the drive-thru extends around the corner.

The naysayers want to shut down the drive-thru, effectively killing the business. How hateful do you have to be to shut down a business that is providing ample jobs and wealth for your town? It’s not Chick-fil-A’s fault that the roads of Santa Barbara are so terrible. Restaurants have to put up with archaic zoning regulations when building their facilities. Had Chick-fil-A more space or ability, they could have easily accommodated the demand.

Just go to any other Chick-fil-A in the country and you’ll see what I mean. Most of them experience a surge in customers at lunchtime. But they all manage to pretend roads from being blocked, when they are allowed to manage demand properly.

But this California town is so petty, they want to shut down a thriving business. Talk about a bunch of angry commies!
