The holiday season is in full swing, and some Conservatives and Christian citizens believe there’s an all-out attack on their traditions and beliefs.
They’re starting to see more resistance to Christmas-related themes and symbols, while the “woke” crowd continues to replace “Merry Christmas” with the apparently less offensive “Happy Holidays.”
But one Colorado congressman is sick of this Christmas demonizing.
Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn has introduced a new resolution, which would help protect the once-sacred Christmas holiday and all the symbols and traditions that go with it.
Lamborn’s bill already has 39 cosponsors, too. This includes House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), along with well-known GOP members Matt Gaetz (FL) and Jim Banks (IND).
They’re reacting to complaints by millions of citizens of the Christian faith, who feel they constantly have to battle back against a liberal agenda.
Rep. Lamborn wants this to stop. He said in a statement that “Christmas is a wonderful time of year spent with family and loved ones,” and it’s a celebration of of the “birth of our humble savior, Jesus Christ.”
That’s why he’s introducing this new legislation, which will clearly gain plenty of right-wing support.
From Fox News:
A Colorado congressman introduced a resolution Tuesday in the House of Representatives affirming that the symbols and traditions of Christmas should be protected.
Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn noted in his resolution that the First Amendment was not intended to prohibit God and religion from civic discourse.
Specifically, the resolution believes the Framers of the First Amendment, though they prohibited the establishment of religion, “wouldn’t prohibit any mention of religion or reference to God in civic dialogue.”
The bill goes a step further by targeting those that would attempt to diminish or erase Christmas.
According to the resolution it “strongly disapproves of attempts to ban references to Christmas,” and supports “the use of these symbols and traditions by those who celebrate Christmas.”
Rep. Lamborn called out the left’s attack on the holiday as well:
Sadly, however, there is a troubling effort in America to remove the symbols and traditions of Christmas from public display.
This is a blatant attack on our constitutional God-given rights to freely practice our religion.
He added that his resolution “would defend the religious liberties of all Americans,” which will probably gain plenty of support. But whether or not the resolution passes remains to be seen.
Lamborn has tried a similar strategy before.

In 2018, he sponsored another piece of pro-Christmas legislation that also disapproved of any attempt to ban references to the holiday in public. That attempt got 56 cosponsors.
At the time, he said that a “vocal minority” was waging war on Christmas traditions, by attempting to block mention of the holiday in the public space. Many Christians agreed with the assessment.
And they likely still agree, which is why Rep. Lamborn’s resolution might get a good head of steam going.
Those supporting the bill will remind naysayers that America remains mostly a Christian nation, despite the left’s ceaseless attempts to highlight other religions and diminish the importance of Christmas.
