America was shocked when Joe Biden selected former mayor and failed presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg to a top position in his administration. The former mayor of a small Indiana city was put in charge of the Department of Transportation, a major—and vital—agency. None of us were surprised when Buttigieg failed to address the crippling supply chain crisis.
But Pete’s been dogged with scandals long before he worked for Uncle Joe. His administration in South Bend had been rocked by investigations and allegations. And now, even Pete seems to be implicated in a serious “pay-to-play” scandal.

From Daily Mail:
Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg’s top political donors received millions of dollars in city contracts after giving thousands to his campaigns while he was mayor of South Bend, Indiana.
Buttigieg’s political action committees took money from 23 companies who then got jobs from South Bend’s Board of Public Works whose members he appointed, documents obtained by DailyMail.com reveal.
On two occasions, the former presidential candidate received donations the same day the companies were awarded contracts.
We’re all innocent until proven guilty, but this looks pretty bad. Documents have come out that reveal Pete gave out contracts to big donors to his campaign. His PAC took millions from 23 companies. These companies soon get jobs from South Bend’s Board of Public Works. Oh, and these board members were picked by Pete himself. In some cases, the companies received contracts on the same day they floated Pete donations.

Gee… I wonder if anything fishy was going on?
Some fear this was a “pay-to-play” arrangement, where Pete gave out contracts to those who ponied up and gave him cash. This comes as other officials in his administration were investigated, some facing raids by federal officers in past years.
We can’t be sure if these allegations are true, but these kinds of scandals are par for the course for local Democrats. We’ve often reported on Democrat mayors and city officials who tried to wet their beaks while “serving” the public. Some extorted money from private companies in exchange for perks. Others conned hospitals and even charities.
What will happen to Pete? Don’t be surprised if Biden tries to protect him. But if Republicans have any backbone, they will demand investigations.
