GOP Senator Cassidy Publicly Trashes Trump – Then Donald Reminds Him What He Did In 2020 Begging For His Endorsement

Despite overwhelming support for Trump from GOP voters, there are still some Republican leaders poised against him. We saw numerous House Republicans vote against him in Pelosi’s second impeachment sham. Most of them are facing tough re-election challenges.

But even today, some Republicans haven’t learned their lessons. These “conservatives” are turning on the party over their love of the D.C. swamp. One of them, a senator from a conservative state, went as far as to say he won’t vote for Trump in 2024.

Well, Trump has some very strong words for him.

From The Hill:

Former President Trump blasted Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) on Monday after the senator said in an interview he would not vote for the real estate mogul if he ran for president again in 2024…

In a statement on Monday, Trump called Cassidy a “RINO,” an acronym for “Republican in name only,” and reiterated a notion he had hoisted on other Republicans that Cassidy had “begged” for his endorsement in 2020 “and used it all over the place to win re-election.”

“Now, Wacky Bill Cassidy can’t walk down the street in Louisiana, a State I won by almost 20 points,” the Trump statement read. “He could not even be elected dog catcher today, the great people curse him.”

Trump blasted Republican senator from Louisiana, Bill Cassidy, after he said he wouldn’t vote for Trump in 2024. The 45th president called “Wacky” Bill a RINO, who begged him for an endorsement. Because of that endorsement, Cassidy easily won re-election.

Now it seems this swamp lover is trashing the man who helped save the Republican Party. Cassidy trashed Trump, criticizing him for “losing.” He even went as far as to turn on Trump during the second impeachment.

Trump laid out how he worked to help Louisiana while in office. He pointed to the building of “major energy facilities” and providing for “huge amounts of hospital supplies and ventilators.” Trump said even the liberal governor of the state thanked him for his efforts.

In contrast, Trump said Cassidy can’t even “walk down a street in Louisiana” seemingly pointing at his popularity among residents. But Trump did support the state’s other senator, John Kennedy, who continues to be a pro-Trump Republican.

It seems pretty odd that Cassidy would seek Trump’s support in the 2020 Election, but so quickly turn on him since then. Perhaps Cassidy only wanted to use Trump to help himself. But when the chips were down, it was easier for him to join with the swamp to turn on 45.

We’ve seen several Republican figures turn on Trump after November 2020. Things haven’t gone well for them. That includes former Trump staffers Nikki Haley and Bill Burr. Neither should expect to be strong figures in the party moving forward.
