New report from the Washington Examiner, VP Kamala Harris plans to campaign for California Governor Gavin Newsom amid his recall election.
Per the report:
When asked whether she would back the Democratic governor, the longtime associate of Newsom answered, “Yes.”
Harris, a former California attorney general and senator, did not elaborate further as she departed the Capitol.
Newsom endorsed Harris’ presidential campaign in 2009, saying “I’ve known her for decades, not only as district attorney, where she did an extraordinary job with a very progressive record, but I watched her up close as lieutenant governor when she served as attorney general, and I have the privilege of working with her as a U.S. senator. I think the American people could not do better.”
However, it’s unknown how much of a boost Harris will provide as her popularity has dropped in a new Morning Consult poll.
Per The Hill “Forty-seven percent of registered voters polled had an unfavorable view of Harris, compared to 45 percent who had a favorable view, the survey of 1,997 registered voters conducted between July 16 and 18 found.”
