As former President Donald Trump was acquitted for a second time on Friday, Hollywood leftist celebrities came unglued in the extreme and labeled Republicans as ‘traitors’ for not impeaching him over alleged incitement of insurrection concerning the Capitol riot on Jan. 6.
Seven Republicans joined Democrats in voting to convict Trump. The final vote was 57 to 42, which is ten short of the 67 votes required to convict the former president.
Celebrities suffered a complete meltdown on social media and the hashtag #43Traitors trended on Twitter. They vented their rage over the trial outcome on social media. Calling someone a traitor is no minor charge. The penalty for treason is no less than five years in prison and the possibility of the death penalty.
The list of unhinged rants was a long one. One after another, actors and actresses on Twitter simply lost it over the outcome and voiced profanities, threats, and predictions all over the place.
Bette Midler did not disappoint in her tantrum on Twitter: “He got away with murder. Let that sink in.” And more: “This lopsided vote is an American tragedy of monumental proportions., one we made all by ourselves,” Midler proclaimed. “The consequences of this travesty have yet to be known, but I predict they will be uglier than even the last four years have been.”
She also retweeted a vicious tweet from Pam Keith, Esq. who compared Trump to murderous terrorist Osama bin Laden: “Osama Bin Laden did not fly planes into any U.S. buildings. He just asked & inspired people to do it, drew money & resources to the effort, set the timing & launched the execution from afar. In what way was Donald Trump’s role in 1/6 ANY DIFFERENT?”
Rosie O’Donnell, who has always had a vendetta against Trump, tweeted: “well f*** u all – traitors – cult members – reality deniers u have no shame – u tossed ur legacy in with his – the nation will not forget ur betrayal – he tried to kill mike pence for gods sake – what will it take – damn it #TrumpIsGuilty.”
She also went after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell: “spare us mitch – u voted NOT guilty so shut the french toast #43traitors.” And then wrote: “it tells the world our own government doesn’t support the democracy #notGUILTY my fat a** #heartbroken #AMERICA,”
Alyssa Milano joined in on the bashing, along with Patton Oswalt, Jimmy Kimmel, and, of course, Rob Reiner.
“Imagine if your boss sent a mob of ppl to your workplace to kill you, who beat up 140 cops & 5 people died. And when you had the chance to hold him accountable you were too scared. Repubs can’t stand up for the American people because they can’t even stand up for *themselves,*” cried Padma Lakshmi.
“Frozen” voice actor Josh Gad tweeted specific individuals to target: “list of traitors up for election in ’22.”
Actress Debra Messing tweeted her own list of Republicans that she wants to be removed from office in 2022.
Don Cheadle snarked: “43 traitors walk into a bar …”
“‘The President was guilty of everything he was accused of…which is why I voted to acquit,’” quipped Jon Stewart.
Others chimed in disparaging McConnell including comedians Wanda Sykes and Jim Gaffigan.
Actor John Cusack called Republicans ‘fascists’: “- 7 gop members who voted guilty – the rest are open fascists.”
Ron Pearlman spewed obscenities and bile: “Yo donnie. You’re about to be acquitted. But just like you got your ass kicked out of office by the American people, you will always be just a stain. Forever. Because we see you. You piece of s***.”
Kamala Harris’ niece, Meena Harris unsurprisingly threw the race card: “white supremacy wins again.”
The acquittal potentially allows Trump to run in 2024. But Democrats are not finished with him. They want to bar him from office forever using the 14th Amendment and they plan to go after him as an American citizen, attacking his taxes and his business dealings.
