At the request of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has deployed up to 50 members of her state’s national guard to the U.S Mexico border.
Noem said the deployment of South Dakota National Guard to Texas “will be paid for by a private donation.”
Per Axios “The deployment to the border is slated to last 30–60 days and will be paid for by a private donation, Noem’s office said. The details of the mission have yet to be finalized.”
Noem now has joined the governors of Florida, Nebraska and Iowa, who have all also pledged officers.
Abbott announced in May “The Biden administration’s immigration policies are failing Texans, causing a humanitarian crisis in many Texas communities along the border.”
