Rand Paul shared that he and his family face death threats because of the famous clashes with Fauci, the infectious disease expert, for the virus’s origin.
“This week, I’ve had five death threats just for being outspoken on it,” Paul said for Fox News. “I don’t know what the world’s coming to, you can’t ask honest, difficult questions that in the end have proved out that Dr. Fauci was not honest with us, but as a repercussion, my family had white powder sent to our house, and five death threats phoned in.”
He commented after the FBI and U.S. Capitol Police investigated the suspicious package with white powder, and it was delivered to his house.
In the package, the police found an image of Paul in bandages with a gun on his head. The text was: “I’ll finish what your neighbor started you motherf—er,” referencing when Paul’s neighbor assaulted him.
These threats against Paul coincide with his attacks on Fauci’s bad handling of the coronavirus pandemic. He said that Fauci was too cautious with masks and that Fauci downplayed the prospect that the COVID-19 could have been leaked from a China laboratory.
However, Fauci defended himself and pushed back on GOP critics in an MSNBC interview on Friday night and called the attacks misleading and distorted.
