Supreme Court Hands Down Biggest Decision In A Century – In 6-3 Ruling SCOTUS Overturns Roe v. Wade

The country was rocked when, back in May, someone leaked a draft opinion from the Supreme Court.

Democrats backed attempts by protestors to intimidate the court, so they would change their mind on this crucial issue.

But the court released its’ final verdict on Roe v. Wade. And it’s turning out to be one of its biggest decisions of the century, if not all American history.

From CNBC:

The Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision on Friday overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling that established the constitutional right to abortion in the U.S. in 1973.

The court’s controversial but expected ruling gives individual states the power to set their own abortion laws without concern of running afoul of Roe, which had permitted abortions during the first two trimesters of pregnancy.

After fifty years, the infamous Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion at the federal level has finally been overturned.

This moment has been long in the making. To say it’s historic is an understatement. Millions of Americans, for generations, have been working and praying for this moment.

And it’s finally here.

The decision holds that the “Constitution does not confer a right to abortion.”

Justice Samuel Alito, writing the opinion, stated “The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision.”

This major ruling, rejected by the court’s three liberal justices and Chief Justice John Roberts, means abortion is no longer recognized as a “right” by the federal government.

Roberts wrote a concurring opinion that the court should have upheld the Mississippi restrictions but not struck down Roe in the process.

The court specifically stated that the legalization of abortion is to be decided by the people and their elected, state officials.

Already, it appears over half of the states will ban abortion. There are thirteen that already have laws that ban abortion in response to this decision.

More are believed to join them, bringing the total of states to ban abortion to about 26.

In addition to this, other states will restrict abortion, in light of this decision. Only the bluest states will keep abortion laws as they are.

California, New York, and Illinois are expected to expand abortion rights.

But with this massive change, it opens the door for pro-life advocates to make ground even in blue states.

Now that states have the right to decide abortion, voters will have a strong incentive to vote for pro-life representatives.

There might be a movement, even in liberal states, to outlaw the practice entirely.

Let’s never forget who got us to this amazing day. A man who appointed three pro-life justices to the court, while being attacked as a villain by the left.

President Donald Trump.

But even Trump, who was asked by Fox News about his role in appointing the justices, responded, “God made the decision.”
