Trump Grabs Large Lead In President Poll – Donald Just Dominated The Next GOP Candidate By Over 40%

Even though the 2024 presidential election is a ways off, it’s still a major talking point. Specifically, much of the country is wondering if former POTUS Donald Trump will run again.

Many Republicans and right-wing citizens are hoping he does, while plenty of liberals don’t want to see Trump in the White House ever again.

However, if the latest polls are any indication, those liberals should start worrying.

Though Trump hasn’t confirmed that he’d run again, he’s hinted at another bid several times in 2021. In fact, he was once quoted as saying that only a “bad call from a doctor” would stop him.

On top of that, most polls show Trump as the clear leader among GOP candidates for 2024.

But perhaps the most stunning statistic just showed up, courtesy of pollster Rick Shaftan’s Neighborhood Research and Media. He wanted to survey likely Iowa GOP caucus attendees.

And it turns out that the results are stunningly in favor of the former Commander-in-Chief.

Not only does Trump hold the lead over other potential Republican presidential candidates, it’s not even close. The second-place candidate (Florida Governor Ron DeSantis) isn’t even within striking distance.

From Breitbart:

The survey, from pollster Rick Shaftan’s Neighborhood Research and Media, shows Trump at nearly 56 percent with 55.7 percent—leading his next closest possible rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, by more than 40 percent.

DeSantis is the only other candidate to even break into double digits. South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem only managed 2.1 percent, while a significant 20.8 percent remain undecided.

But it’s Trump’s number that’s getting all the attention right now.

This poll basically proves that if the GOP had to pick a presidential candidate right now, Trump would win in a landslide. There really wouldn’t even be a competition for the nomination.

The only stumbling block Trump faces is that according to this poll, he’s either loved or hated.

While he did take 55.7 percent of the vote, the poll also showed that “35 percent of respondents did not pick Trump for any of their three choices … including 43 percent of somewhat conservative and half of moderates.”

The survey also indicates that “men are much more supportive of him than women.”

However, it remains that the former President is immensely popular within the Republican party, and other leaders have already said they’d likely defer to Trump if he decided to run again.

Noem, for example, said she’d back Trump, and DeSantis has reportedly said the same thing.

It should also be noted, though, that DeSantis appears to be the overwhelming favorite should Trump decide not to campaign again:

DeSantis’s strength with 35+ men who make up a large share of the political class is not only a long-term concern for Trump, but his strength, especially among Trump voters on the second ballot, sucks all the oxygen away from any other potential candidate.

DeSantis gets support on one of the three ballots from 39 percent of voters. Kristi Noem is next at only 5 percent.

So right now, it’s looking like either Trump or DeSantis for 2024.

A lot can happen in the next few years, though, so we’ll just have to wait and see if these numbers change significantly at some point.
