Ever since former President Donald Trump was kicked off Twitter, he’s been railing against political discrimination in the world of Big Tech. Other Republican leaders have taken up the fight as well.
Many claim there is clear and blatant bias in the world of social media, and they say platforms like Twitter and Facebook routinely silence right-wing views.
But Trump is using his power and influence to fight back — and now he’s got a mountain of cash to work with.
Instead of going after the current Big Tech bigwigs, Trump has another idea: a social platform of his own.
He announced plans for the platform earlier in the year, much to the delight of his supporters. Those supporters have also claimed widespread suppression of their views on social media.
That’s why they’re hoping the former POTUS can deliver a free, open, and patriotic platform that can compete against the likes of Twitter.
Previously, Trump’s team revealed they’ve been moving forward with the ambitious plan. And it’s clear that the plan has attracted plenty of interested parties, including those with deep pockets.
And now, they’ve got $1 billion to work with.
Via Washington Examiner:
Former President Donald Trump’s latest attempt at building his own social media company will receive $1 billion in new investments.
Trump’s latest investment, the Trump Media & Technology Group, announced on Saturday that it has secured $1 billion in new investments as it takes steps toward becoming traded through a blank check company.
For a while, Trump tried to get back on the social media networks that banned him. He even tried a lawsuit.
But now it’s obvious that the former President isn’t as interested in getting back onto these platforms. Rather, he’s focusing on his own, and it’s gaining support and funding with every passing day.
Said Trump in a press statement:
$1 billion sends an important message to Big Tech that censorship and political discrimination must end.
America is ready for TRUTH Social, a platform that will not discriminate on the basis of political ideology.
As our balance sheet expands, TMTG will be in a stronger position to fight back against the tyranny of Big Tech.
We don’t know the identities of the investors but the money is significant.
TMTG isn’t just looking to launch a new social media platform, either: the newly created company also intends to produce other America-first initiatives, like a streaming channel dedicated to “non-woke” programming.
TRUTH Social was officially announced in October, and at the time Trump said it was designed to “stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.”
Of course, any new social media network is bound to face numerous hurdles. For example, it didn’t take long for hackers to exploit the system during a trial run of the website’s launch.
There’s also a potential legal issue looming with Mastadon, the open-source social media platform TMTG is using.
TRUTH Social has claimed that software as “proprietary property” and in response, Mastadon’s developers are warning they’ll sue if Trump’s team doesn’t abide by the company’s license.
Obviously, it won’t be an easy launch by any stretch of the imagination.

But at this point, right-wing citizens and Republican leaders around the country are tired of feeling discriminated against on social media. Most believe they’re actively being silenced on a daily basis.
Others say it’s painfully obvious that the big social platforms are pushing a dangerous far-left agenda that’s only getting more extreme.
So, enter TRUTH Social. If Trump can get it off the ground and it works well enough, it’s possible that it could see millions of users in a very short span of time.
